Logistics and transportation network provider Descartes Systems Group today announced its acquisition of Infodis B.V., a Netherlands based software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider of transportation management technology. Infodis provides European-centric transportation network based services supporting both inbound and outbound purchased transportation. The announcement outlines an all cash purchase valued at 3.0 Million Euro (approx. $3.7 Million), and adds to Descartes mission in providing a comprehensive networked global logistics community.
This acquisition has been communicated as providing critical European domain expertise and support functionality to the existing Descartes Transportation Management Suite. It adds more than 200 European and Asia-Pacific carriers and a number of high tech companies including names such as Phillips, Sony and Canon, to the Descartes Logistics Technology Platform.
This announcement is yet another indicator of the increased attraction of SaaS offerings in supply chain management and efforts of larger technology providers acquiring other market players.
